Sometimes a single image is all that is necessary to reach an audience: to inform, to celebrate, to market a product, to express outrage, or to call to action. But sometimes images are not enough. Sometimes you need text that works as hard and communicates as well or better.
The best movies succeed when camera work and any special effects serve a strong plot and good characterization. Similarly, promotional, educational and other material benefit greatly from text that works well with the graphics used. Appropriate fonts and font sizes should form clear and well-written text.
Just as text should be free from any misspellings, grammatical or punctuation errors, so should graphics be free of errors. Images should be appropriate to the subject and correctly sized, and not fuzzy, distorted, or oddly colored.
